How to setup IR on my desktop PC

I have a desktop and I wanted to set up IR so that I could sync with my Palm at faster speeds than the serial port cradle. Palm doesn't sell a USB cradle for my IIIxe, and the serial to USB adapter wont speed up the syncing, at least that's what a friend told me.

So does anyone know where I could purchase an IR kit for my Abit BE-6 motherboard, and the approximate cost?

Thanks.

The BE6 has a IR header on it. You simply need a sensor to connect to it. You may want to contact Abit customer support to see if they have an IR sensor.

I am looking into this as well. As far as I can tell, you should be able to buy an IR transmitter and receiver LED from Radio Shack (about $2.00 a pop) and wire them to the header. My new case (Fong Kai 603) has an IR window on the front. I will let you know when it works when I build my new system next week.
