I am in need of setting up a headless windows 7 system. It will only be used to record security cameras around my home. I am un able to find any How To pages on this. Any help would be great.

i am going to buy a new system for this:

Can anyone help to point me in correct direction.

I tried to search forums but kept getting error.

What do you need specifically? Are you looking for auto login?

is so start - run - type 'netplwiz' click on the username you wish to have auto login, then uncheck 'users must type password to login'

But in reality you don't need that even.

Also, make sure you set the PC to book without keyboard.

The software I am going to use will start up on boot. I want the system to just reboot on power outage or like and not have to touch it. Then be able to log in from my laptop or desktop with Windows remote desktop to watch recorded video and such. No keyboard, mouse, monitor, or anything. Just tower sitting there.

I'm on phone right now. Will check link to msn article later

Thanks

Yeah, just make sure you set in your bios to power on after power loss, then enable RDP and you should be good to go.

You will need either Windows 7 Business or higher for RDP, or install a fork of VNC and make sure it's set to start up automatically.
