Well I tried that out, I have win2k server and when I open the DNS the only thing I see is my computer name "NAMIT" under dns and a forward lookup zone and a reverse lookup zone below the computer name. Thats it.

? Namit Merch*** ?

http://www.wshot.com ?

:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Anyway....

1. Open your DNS server
2. Double click on server, Click on Forward Reverse Zone
3. Click on New Zone
4. Complete the wizard
5. Click back on your DNS Zone and make sure at least the followings are created:
- Host
- Mail Host
- www CNAME
- ftp CNAME
- MX record

6. Modify SOA record and nameserver record if you are registering your nameserver with NIC.
7. Register your DNS server.

That should be it. It's nice seeing you here. Welcome :)

Go to your domain registrar. Usually they have the option to register DNS servers.
No charge whatsoever.

internic does domain names, which require name servers
your name server is free, but your domain name is not
