How to setup bittorrent port forwarding on my network

My network setup consists of a cable modem going to an unsecured wireless router (router 1), which in turn has another wired router (router 2) behind it. Thus, there is an unsecured wireless network and a secured wired network. My friends and I often distribute our amatuer videos through bit torrent and I'd like to be able to use bt on a wired client inside the secure network. Clients on the unsecured wireless have no problem connecting, but wired clients on the secure network cannot connect.

I know that I should forward the bt ports on router 1 to the local ip of router 2, which then forwards to the individual client, but how can I make it so that clients on both networks still maintain access? Do I just foward a few of the bt ports to my wired client and leave the rest unspecified? Thanks.

You'll have to give each computer on the wired router its own port for using a BT client. Each port will forward to the IP address of that computer. You'll need to put the correct port into the client setup of each computer.

For example, forward port 6346 to IP address 192.168.101.10 and forward 6347 to IP address 192.168.101.11, etc. You'll need to either use static IP address for these client computers or set the wired router's DHCP server to always assign those IP addresses to those machines.

I'm not 100% sure a BT client will work correctly behind two layers of NAT like on your network, but I think it will.

I too have the same netgear router and the exact same problem. I can stay on for maybe 15-20 min at a time but then pages wont load and it says excellent connection. This problem occured right after i downloaded bit torrent so i was wondering if that is when your problem started. I want to do a system refresh but dont want to loose all the movies i downloaded. does anyone know if bit torrent could be causing this?
