Hello,

I have this http://www.patriotmem.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=5&catid=41&prodgroupid=120&id=833&type=1
PC3-12800 (1600MHz) 9-9-9-24 1.8V
and want to know hot to set in BIOS of MB
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/t-series/introduction.php?S_ID=445

to use full potential of this RAM.
By default it runs at 1333 & 1.5V only.
So far I changed from "auto" to "1600" and increase DRAM voltage to "1.81V"

How / where to set proper CL9 for this RAM?
I can't get much from MB manual :( about what settings is what does?

if you think its for Memory forum question - let me know.

thanks.

Running 1.8v RAM is considered dangerous in P55/X58 unless you are OCing, & have higher VTT also.

In short, not a wise idea for a novice unless you don't mind the risk of damaging components.

Stick w/ < 1.65v.

You bought RAM not really designed for P55.
That doesn't mean it won't work.

I'd suggest leaving it at lower voltage though, which means you might need to run looser timings also.

Keep in mind DDR3-1600 is meant for OCing, not stock operation systems, so you might not even be able to run DDR3-1600 w/o OCing the system.

I don't know your BIOS layout, but if you look around, you should find an option for entering in your timings manually.

You could post some pictures for me & i can try to determine what to enter as well.
Even your CPU-Z Memory tab screenie right now would be helpful.

As i mentioned though, i would not be running 1.8v...

Everything is correct there :)

Only thing i'd be worried about is your vDIMM.

Perhaps see if you can lower it & still be stable?
(Make sure to test w/ Memtest86+ & ideally, something like HCI Memtest or LinX in Windows.)

Or if you cannot lower vDIMM stably, maybe try running DDR3-1333 @ a lower vDIMM?

Up to you, but as i mentioned, Intel spec is 1.65v or lower ideally, so obviously it's riskier to be running 1.8v

thanks for the help.
so far it's stable - 2.5 hours / 4 passes in memtest86
at 1.68V / 1600 9-9-9-24 T1

memtest86 shows 13717 mb/s - is it good / bad?
how to check for memory real speed?

Good job getting that vDIMM lowered :)

You can use CPU-Z for checking out the primary RAM timings/speed.

CPU-Tweaker for the more advanced timings
http://www.tweakers.fr/cputweaker.html

Everest/MaxxMem/SuperPi or HyperPi are are few appz good for quick basic benchmarking.
