Hello,

I'm currently using a D-link 713p Wireless Router for my home network. Link here: http://www.dlink.com/products/broadband/di713p/

I have 1 comp wired and 3 others wireless (2 of the computers downstairs at other end of house). So far, results are pretty good but I'm trying to improve the connection for the 2 downstairs computers.

Yesterday, I purchased the D-link DWL-800AP+. Link here: http://www.dlink.com/products/wireless/dwl800ap+/

I am by no means a computer n00b but I sure do feel like one after trying to set this up. The included and online manuals suck. Basically, I'm trying to use this as a repeater to extend the range of my wireless router. Do I leave it plugged into my router via cat5? Or do I just plug it into the AC adapter into a wall outlet somewhere between the router and my downstairs computers?

When setting up the 800AP+, I changed it's gateway to the gateway address of my router (192.168.0.1). I also changed it's IP address to match up with the computers in the network (Computer IP's are 192.168.0.100-103, 800AP+ IP is 192.168.0.104).

After testing it out plugged into my router and then, only plugged into a wall AC outlet halfway between router and computers, I can't notice any improvement. I'm not sure if I set it up wrong or it just wont help in my house situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
