I have a RAID 0 (4 drives) with Intel ICH8R and now I would like to set up a RAID 1 with JMicron. I cannot figure out where to connect the second drive to.

The SATA connector I used for the first drive is the one located beside the 16X PCIE slot (near the rear I/O panel); but where do I connect the 2nd drive to?

I did a FAQ search on here and find that I should connect the 2nd drive to the e-SATA in the rear I/O panel; but wouldn't that make the setup having one drive inside the case and another outside as an external HDD? I want both drives to be internal HDDs reside inside the case.

Thanks,

Hey dog, I did some studying last month on I/E PCI SATA Cards. If you have an internal/ external connection on your card, it probably means, more than likely, it is a shared connector. If there is a internal connector next it, that should be the one to use:cool:

The Jmicron controller "controls" two SATA ports, Asus decided to make the one internal ( the one close to the I/O Panel ) and the other one an e-SATA ( External SATA ).
Thus the only way to create a RAID Array with the Jmicron controller is to use the e-SATA and the SATA port ( next to the I/O panel ).
