it has been disscussed, hopefully it's fixed. Otherwise, makes the forums, esp. FS/FT and Hotdeals almost worthless

As to whether this will get re-implemented, the definitive answer from Jason Clark is "maybe in June." Expect a lock right about...... now.

I've STILL never heard how they had it in last version but now say it can't be added because of "language problems" in this one. If it existed, then wasn't the support already there????

Well I am guessing that they did a major rewrite of the back-end code for this version. They might have changed how the database works for their new multilingual capabilities, which would mean developing new queries to extract and display the data. I have written in ColdFusion and PHP quite a bit, and on the surface this doesn't seem like a major thing to add, but clearly there is some degree of complication or they would probably just throw it in.

Alright I have one conspiracy theory I probably shouldn't even voice, and frankly this again seems like it would be trivial to fix with a bit of smart coding. I noticed in the old version that "Stickies" were only sticky in the Sort By Last Reply mode. So Sort by Topic Date never showed any of the stickies. I always though that was great, but if you are trying to get people to view the Paid Advertising, which is all stickied, it is not so great.

Like I said, wild speculation, but maybe they are waiting to fix the no-sticky issue in the Sort By Topic Date. More likely Jason was being obscure but accurate when he mentioned the multilingual-update-incompatibility issue-thing.

There is an Anandtech thread sorter here. It seems to provide basic sorting by latest posted topics. It might be a short term solution until FuseTalk gets fixed.

Wow, the AT Forums are useful again... sort of. More useful anyway. Thanks very much for the link! Do you know if that was written as a direct result of the currently devolved FuseTalk?

Yeah, it's missing the fancy interface and the OP's nickname. But it does appear to be useful.

....

Makes perfect sense. They're probably looking for a way to keep the stickies at the top while still sorting by thread date instead of message date.

Thank you, Cyberia, for the link to the (temporary) fix. Now I'll probably start spending more than two minutes a day on Anandtech without getting frustrated and leaving (as I suspect many others have been doing).

Without this feature, the forums are useless. I'll be using the other websites that still allow you to sort by latest topic. Bye Bye.

Exactly. From a really decent forum to a completly useless forum. I to will be using forums that have a sort by latest topic feature.

I find that hard to swallow. I have been a member of chubby billfold for a while and sort threads by topic instead of last post and I still get all of their stickies. I just checked to make sure they use fusetalk. I thought they did but I don't see it anywhere on their page. In other words I may be completely off base.

Conspiracy Theory #2. "They" want to get rid of the Hot Deals Forum, cause this is definetly what is happening now. The # posts in HD is down by what looks like 75%. The HD forums require the most computer overhead. I hope I am wrong.
