how to set up pc to play games on computer & vids on tv

hopefully my pc is capable of doing this...here are the some specs

amd xp 2500+
2x512mb geil value series w/heatspreaders
120gb & 160 gb drives
abit nf7-s
leadtek 6800gt

ive been trying to figure out a way to set up my tv to play vids or movies from the computer cause our dvd player got fried & play cs source at the same time on the computer monitor...so far i can only get dual monitor mode or have whats showing on the monitor show up on the tv...is there any way to get the tv to play vids & have the comp play games? thanks

I know that my dual-head ATI R9200 card has something called "theater mode" for the TV-output, and any overlay-using media-playback will automatically be routed, full-screen, out the TV-out port. However, playing a DirectX game full-screen at the same time, even if not using the overlay, might interfere, I don't think that I've tried that. Also, if you minize the media-player, it will disable the full-screen output on the TV-out as well.

As for NV-based cards, I have no idea if they have anything similar to ATI's "theater mode" or not.
