I have windows 7. I just put a corsair bx100 250 GB ssd in my computer and using hdtune pro, I'm only getting 242 MB/s sequential reads. That's only half what I should be getting according to the reviews I've seen. What gives? IT's in ahci mode.

I have no idea whether 242 mbs is typical for that drive. Regardless, I wouldn't get too excited about it----access time is what gives SSDs their pop.

Have you confirmed that the drive is properly aligned?

It's a Crucial, not Corsair.

But, 242 isn't far off from 270...what motherboard, and what port?

242 isnt bad at all, is it in a SATA 2 or3 port? Built in controller, or 3rd party?

EDIT - Beat me to it :p

Don't be a douche. You've been around here long enough to know the difference between SATA 2 and 3. What MB model are you using?

If you can't be bothered to answer simple questions why should we bother helping you?

Sadly, this.

Acting like it doesn't matter what SATA port it's plugged into is not going to help you solve the mystery, OP. It's just going to piss off those trying to help you.

I'm pretty sure the OP plugged in his SSD to an SATA-II port, because his reported throughput is about what you'd expect for that.

If he's rocking a board for a gen-2 Intel processor or later, there should be two SATA-III ports to use sparingly and strategically. Those things are color-coded.

And the OP has been in the forums long enough to make 8,000 posts? do I have that wrong? Doesn't have time or inclination to see how he connected the SSD?

Yeah, didn't have time yesterday, was swamped. I will check tonight. Was feeling super douchey yesterday, sorry.

I don't recall seeing anything other than the 4 sata ports on my board, but they might be there. I'll look when I have time.

I have a P67a-UD3-B3 board. It supports sata 3 drives and I found the port to plug it into.
