If this is just for use inside your LAN, then there's no need to change your router settings. Just run filezilla server on the machine you want to setup as your ftp server and make sure it's allowed in your windows xp firewall.

Just read the FileZilla server documentation on how to add users and shared folders. It's actually pretty easy to figure out in the configuration. As FishTaco said, make sure that the ports are open in the WinXP firewall. After that, just open up the Filezilla client, type in the IP address and login.

thanks guys but I still need more help in more detail....everyone says it's easy.......

Here is the steps I took....

1. I installed FileZilla server on my computer, opened/even disabled firewall on XP to see if FileZilla works.
2. If I have FileZilla server on the computer, does it automatically become a FTP server? Is there any settings or changes that I have to do on my computer?
3. FileZilla server asks for server IP address and port and password (if not 127.0.0.1), do I put my computer's IP address and port (21)? what do I put on password? Is that a login password?
4. What comes on the screen if it is connected? Do I see all the files on the hard drive? and then able to assign which folder?

sorry for asking too much...many many many thanks

I use Cerberus for my FTP needs. Its a lot easier than all of the other FTP server programs.
