How to set Intel ProSet Wireless to NOT look for a certificate server when I authenticate via PEAP?

JEDI

i'm trying to authenticate to my school's wireless network. i can do it via microsoft's zero connection (?) to manage the wireless.

but i cant do it via when i use the wireless manufacturer's program (Intel Proset).

I prefer to have the Proset program instead of Microsoft to manage my wireless.

I downloaded the latest version from Intel's site (which is a later version than Dell's site.)

THe problem is that the Zero connection has an option to NOT validate to a certificate server. there's also an option about the WEP key being provided automatically instead of me entering it myself.

apparently, i need both of those options to log into my school's lan.

but the Intel Proset program does not have either of these options.

Is there a way?

THX!

The newest intel proset has an admin side, and user side. Check both, it's there (it has to be, as it is CCXv3 compliant)

the latest release on Intel's site is dated march 2005.

and i didnt see separate admin + user sides?

the admin side is for single sign on stuff. What is the version number of your client, as I usually test pre release utilities.

check Intel's website for 9.0.2.25

I don't think I have a copy of that old utility to run. IIRC, leave the WEP key field blank, and leave the certificate field blank.

Are you using tokens? Or can you use LEAP authentication?

not for long 😉

Try and see if LEAP would work, or EAP-Fast. The admin tool is for single sign on (i.e. authenticate using login credentials for domain support) and is in the "Tools" menu of this utility, so it may be in the same place as the old one. Normally (from a cisco perspective) PEAP setup is the same as LEAP for the AP's. Try LEAP unless you are using OTP (one time password tokens). Also, ask about a certificate, as you might be able to go EAP-TLS then, which is easier.
