How to send a money order to Canada

GoingUp

Lifer
I am having some art work done by an Artist in Canada, and she needs me to send her a money order for the work. How would I send her one from the United States? The amount has to be in Canadian Dollars.

Send a postal money order. They can convert currency up there ya know.

I suppose if it HAS to be in CAD then go to your bank.

Here I can get money orders in US currency, not sure if it works the other way around though.

I like some of the replies though 🙂

Make sure you send an International Money Order (the red ones), and not a usual Money Order (green), the green MOs can't be cashed outside the US.

And yeah, just take an International MO in USD, she can convert it up here.

I've received US money orders from a trader in the States before and had my bank say they can't cash them. I would talk with the bank before you do anything...

this is the answer

No. It is not. You can't just send any postal money order. Your typical USPS MO (green) cannot be cashed outside the US. We've covered this already in the thread. Drink more coffee.

The one time I did it, I sent a red (international) money order from the post office. It cost just a few bucks to mail it there.

lol, with the value of the american dollar dropping compared to the CaD at a fairly drastic rate everyday?

Just send it in CAD out of courtesy.
