how to sell wedding/engagement ring

Senior member
I have a wedding/engagement ring pair I want to sell.

How do I do this without getting ripped off?
Is it good to sell it on ebay, pawn shops?

I have no experience in this area, and just want my money back.
I could try calling the store that I got it from...I just don't want to it
back there...because I feel I have lost face...you know...proposing
and then having all the **** end.

I just want to get rid of this....btw...I live in Southern California...
anyone know a location where I can sell this?

You could try eBay, but I hope you have a lot of documentation on the stone(s) and are prepared to lose a minimum of 40-50% of what you paid.

If you can still return it, definitely do so.

Well, face or money, you have to choose one.
As mentioned, if you are not returning it, you will likely lose a lot of value on the pair of rings.

Losing face? SoCal?

You must be Asian 😛 The jewelery store probably gets it all the time, and you dont even know the people who work there (assuming) so just take it back, no big deal.

DON'T sell it on ebay. you will get like 1/10th of what you paid for it!

it's best to see if you can try to sell it to a jewelry store, or if it there is any way possible you can exchange it for something else at the store you bought it from.

Most jewelry stores have a full refund warranty on rings, assuming they come back in good condition. Just take it back to them. If they won't give you a full refund, ask for a full refund in the form of instore credit. Most likely you will get that, but only ask if you think you would use it.

put an ad in a local classified... like recycler or craigslist.org or latimes. A lot of people are looking to save some money on a ring set (i'm assuming you didn't get ripped off in the first place). because you're local, offer to take it to an appraiser and also have the receipts, etc with you.

best thing though, really, go back to where you bought it from. maybe if you got it at a chain (like a mall store) you can just go to a different branch?

good luck pal... sorry things didn't go well...

just curious though, what are the specs on it and how much did you pay?

put pictures of yourself wearing it on Ebay with detailed story about why your getting rid of it and black out your face so your bar buddies wont notice you.

Try the For Sale forums here..might work out for you...

i was able to sell a tri-stone diamond ring I bought for my stbx. I paid $2000 for it new and ended up getting like $1400 for it here...I know i took a big hit (especially since it was only three months old) but it was the best option to recoup most of my oney...the store wouldnt take it back because it was over 60 days....
