If i click on an mp3 file. winamp opens. perfect, and easy to set up.

If I click on an mp3 on a *WEB SITE*, quicktime opens.
I dont see how to change this so its always winamp.

Tips?

by the way, I already
1. Open Quicktime in Start > Programs > Quicktime
2. Click Edit > Preferences > Quicktime Preferences
3. Click [File Types] Tab and Uncheck MP3
4. Click [Browser] Tab
5. Click MIME Settings, and Uncheck MP3
6. Click OK Twice

Still opens QT plug in.

If I disable QT plug in in IE, then i get an error message when trying to load a page with an mp3 on it..

What if you "Set Program Access and Defaults" to make your preferrend player (e.g. VLC is better) the default player?

If you're running XP, try opening a WINDOWS EXPLORER
window, not Internet Explorer, just your normal folder browser.

Nagivate to your music folder or somewhere with a file with the mp3 type and extension, and left click to select one of those particular files in the right pane without double-clicking/opening it.

Then
RIGHT Click on the MP3 file, you'll probably see an "Open With..." option... click on that, then pick [CHOOSE PROGRAM] and then you'll see a drop down list of programs like WinAmp, Quicktime, whatever. Pick WinAmp, then click the "ALWAYS USE THE SELECTED PROGRAM TO OPEN THIS KIND OF FILE" and select OK.

Similarly in WINDOWS EXPLORER:
[TOOLS] - [FOLDER OPTIONS] - [FILE TYPES TAB] then
under the REGISTERED FILE TYPES list, go down to MP3, and make sure it is set to WinAmp.

You probably have some kind of MIME TYPE / PLUG IN association in your browser too for MP3 or Audio/MP3 or various other permutations of that that you should check.

Also in WinAmp you can probably find some option telling it to associate MP3 files with itself on a global basis, and maybe something relating to browser plug in / browser handling as well, I'm not sure.

Thank for the help.

It's the MIME settings thzt seem to be trouble to set. Regular file assciations work just fine.
