How to see Steams traffic?

I was thinking about buying some more games through steam, but I want to know how many people are "in-game" on each game, so I know if its worth it to get if for multi-player. Also, non-steam games can be purchased through steam, does that mean that have steam servers for those games? and when you play outside of steam, you have separate servers? please give advice on how to see how many people are playing specific games, and if they have seperate servers for non steam games but purchased though steams. thanks

I have BF2 CD key's i'd like to plug into STEAM, is that possible? I don't have my CD's anymore, haha.

Not trying to thread hijack, but just curious.

nice, and from the looks of it, you cannot add CD-KEYs to STEAM, damn! You have to buy through steam.

yeah man, what you can do is add a shortcut to the game in steam. my BF2 discs didnt work since day 1...so i downloaded an image and just use my legit cd-key to install...pretty sure its legal and you can call it a "backup copy"

I could always do that, but I was really hoping STEAM would take the keys and allow me to download from them.
