How to see shutdown message in Win 8.1?

I have a small problem as everything is working on my Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit system with 512GB SSD.

When I shut down, it says that it is shutting down on the blue screen. Being on an SSD it only takes about 10 seconds. However, above the Shut Down message, there is a QUICK message that pops up after about 9 seconds, and then the system shuts down. What I wonder is what that message may say, and is there any place I can look to see what it may be...like a log file?

The event viewer is probably the best place to look.
Control Panel (classic)\Administrative Tools\Event Viewer\Windows Logs

Look in the containing folders around the time of the shutdown.

There is a message that appears quite often on Windows 7 and up: waiting on applications to close. This is normal, and is not a problem unless it stays there indefinitely. Microsoft said that, starting with Windows7, they were going to make the shutdown process faster. This is what they came up in, and in my opinion, has the timer set a little too short.

Thank you, I will look. That makes sense! Most say the Registry file is still in use.
