How to see DivX movie without the black screen?

I have a DivX movie, but it has odd display ratio (like.. wide screen TV, horizontal is a lot bigger than vertical) that half of vertical display is just black screen. (upper and bottom part of monitor)
Is there any way to view it in "true" full screen without the black parts?

The black bars are there to maintain the aspect ratio which basically means shapes and objects appear as they should. To just expand the image would make a circle become an ellipse and a square a rectangle.

This is all due to the fact that most movies and TV programs are recorded in Widescreen format.
There are two ways of getting rid of the black bars which easily come to mind:
1) Viewing on a widescreen TV - these would remove the bars
2) Expand either the center point of the image or enlarge a different portion of interest of the movie to normal 4:3 ration size (pan&scan)

Pan&Scan however would need proper programming and support which is not available in DivX.
Expansion of the center point of the image (and hence loosing a little off of the sides of the widescreen image itself) goes on quite often actually. Normal old TV's can show widescreen programs by either using the bars or by just chopping the sides off if the program doesn't contain anything useful in the extra bits (determined by the broadcaster).

Your only option is to output to a widescreen tv, stick with the black bars or use a program to crop the central 4:3 aspect area of the film so that area will appear fullscreen.
