How to see ATA rate?

I have an IBM DTLA drive that my BIOS is booting as ATA33. How can I see what rate Win2k is reading it, and how can I force it to ATA100 if it isn't?

Make sure you are at SP2. Windows 2000 had some issues with ATA 100 operation that SP2 addressed. Other than that and making sure you are operating at UDMA (Win2k had another issue with that too) the only way that I know of to make sure you are at ATA 100 is to test in Sandra.

Its been awhile, maybe I'm thinkin of another IBM model HD, but if you go to IBM's website there is a utility you can download that could change that drive from ata33 to ata100....i'll dig around and see if i can find.

Found it...utility is called IBM Feature Tool (version 1.40), link....if ya read the PDF, you'll see you can change the UDMA mode from 0-5, they must set these as a safety precaution....
I hope this helps ya.

Thanks guys... the Feature Tool seems to be what I'm looking for. If the BIOS still isn't having any of it, then I guess I'm back over to the motherboard forum 😉
