How to Scan Wireless G to Discover Clearest Channel

Hello:

I am setting up a new wireless network, and I am trying to find the clearest channel. I've tried just changing the channel then reviewing the laptop connection: some channels are very poor while others seem good. Still, I'll be streaming a lot of big video files--I need to separate the good from the best.

I'm looking for a program to scan all 13 channels of the Wireless G 2.4ghz network, and to report the level of noise/activity in each channel (from other nearby wireless networks, 2.4 cordless phones, etc.). I want to chose the channel that tends to have the least noise/activity/interference.

I know my cordless 2.4g phone can quickly scan all the channels and select the one with the least interference, so I assume there must be programs to measure such activity on the PC.

Anybody know a utility that can do this?

Thank you in advance!
