How to scan to PDF

I used to have an old Canon MP700 that came with software to scan directly to a multi-page PDF - very useful!

Now that those days are gone, can someone recommend a free application that will let me do this that is compliant with TWAIN scanners? Currently I use a Canon F80 and Lexmark X5690.

I don't have any recommendations but here is a list that contains several utilities that describe what you need. I would look at the user and editor ratings on each and then decide. Some are free, some are shareware.
 
My favorite is Omni Page Pro, not because its the best, but because I am used to it. Currently using version 15, cuz I dont feel like buying any more. It does all sorts of nice things, but I think many folks would be happy with freeware programs too.
