How To Save The Spotlight Lock Screen Pictures In Windows 10

If you are using the Spotlight app then you must have noticed it comes with a set of really amazing lock screen pictures. There is a way in which you can save these pictures of your PC and use them as either wallpapers or lock screen backgrounds. Follow the steps below to learn how to do this on a Windows 10 PC.

Step 1
Open a run window

The first thing you need to do is click on your search bar and type ‘Run’. From the results that appear click on the one that reads ‘Run’ and is denoted as a desktop app.

Step 2
Insert Path

In the now open Run window, there will be a space where you can type something, with an ‘open’ marked next to it. Enter the following directory path ‘c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages’. Once you have typed this, click on the ‘ok’ button.

Step 3
Find the Images

Now you have been taken to a folder with a list of subfolders. Find the one titled ‘Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy’ and open it.

Step 4
Open 'LocalState'

Now open the folder titled ‘LocalState’, followed by the folder titled ‘Assets’.

Step 5
Go to 'Assets'

Click on the ‘Assets’ folder. The files within the assets folder are the images that you are looking for, but you can’t see them yet.

Step 6
Copy the Images Files

Copy these encrypted image files to a folder somewhere else. Select them all using the shortcut 'Control + A', then right click to copy, and right click again to paste at the destination folder.

Step 7
Open 'Command Prompt'

Open the command prompt from the windows menu. Click on it to expand it and click on the option ‘Open command prompt’. Now go to the folder where you have stored these encrypted files.

Step 8
Decrypt The Files

Type the following code into the command prompt window: ‘ren**,jpg’, and then press enter. Within a second or two all the encrypted files should have been turned to JPG files and they will now be usable.

If you have followed the above instructions carefully then the entire spotlight gallery should now be available to you for usage.
