Acrobat Reader will save the PDF, data and all. And, there are other freebie readers - they all do it.

I think some PDF's are write protected though...that might be an issue

One year for my taxes I had to download acrobat pro and use the free trial to finish a tax form. That is one option. But the following year I figured out a much easier way: Just take a screenshot of the pdf then edit the form in mspaint. Then you can print it back to a pdf. It sounds like a wierd way to do it but at least I dont have to worry about stupid buggy pdf editors or downloading another massive copy of acrobat pro and going through the hassle of getting another free trial account.

If it's write protected, you could print to pdf. A bit of a one way street, but it works.

If you're looking to save a form in progress, the above method obviously doesn't work all that great.

Well if you need to keep the data in the form, you could try to print to a pdf, there is a number of programs that could do it for example pdfcreator or cutepdf

I have not tried myself but cant hurt to try, or there may be a pdf printer already installed on the machine

Work with it as an image in something like Gimp, then export it as a pdf when finished.

Problem with working with a PDF in an image editor is that you're going from vector to raster. Ick.

You can't print a protected PDF to another PDF--Acrobat is smart enough to recognize that attempt end-run protections and won't allow it.

But you can print to Microsoft's competing XPS format and then print that back to a PDF. :)

You can comlete your form and then print that form to a PDF file.
The PDF file will save the form and the inputs just as you typed them.
