How to safely transfer-share files

I have 2 laptops and I would like to transfer files from laptop A to B wirelessly. What's the best way to do so? I think I have an idea of how but I'm not sure... I think I have to enable sharing file from one computer say latop B and then copy/paste it to using laptop A... or maybe creating a ftp server? I think the latter is safer but I have no idea how to create a ftp server.

Please help me out fellas.

You need a wireless router and 2 wireless cards for the notebooks (unless they already came equipped with them - check). Search this forum on tips how to set them up.
