Question How to safely remove one drive corporate files from my PC

I have a work laptop and we use sharepoint so i used one drive to save some folders to my locale machine so they appear in file explorer. One of the folders i no longer need. I went into one drive settings and clicked stop sync and now it is gone from the settings but it still appears in file explorer. Can i delete the folder without deleting it online since i turned off the sync? Everything i find online seems to be for the personal version of one drive instead of sharepoint. These are legal contracts so i definitely don't want to delete anything but i want it to stop being in file explorer.
