how to safely delete winME from ME/XP dual boot system?

I have WinME and XP on my system, I installed XP after ME... so when i start I get the XP bootscreen where I choose XP or ME. Anyway I never use ME anymore and I want to know if i can safely delete it. I have 2 partitions, one for XP and and an active partion which ME is on. How can i safely delete ME withought screwing things up?

ME is on c:

First bakcup the stuff you want to keep. 😉
From within XP you can delete c:\windows, c:\program files (I presume you have installed all ME related apps here and no XP apps).

It is safe to delete the folowing files from c: (root of drive)

bootlog.txt
bootlog.prv
detlog.txt
netlog.txt
suhdlog.dat
io.sys
autoexec.bat
command.com
msdos.---
scandisk.log
config.sys
msdos.sys
setuplog.txt

Don't delete these files:

BOOT.INI
NTDETECT.COM
NTLDR

Btw if things go wrong you can use the XP recovery console & the "fixboot" command to restore missing XP bootfiles. You can boot from the XP cdrom
