Getting some disc read errors and I want to clean the lens in an attempt to get rid of them. I would google but I'd rather have good information from an AT'er than random google matches.

it's probably not worth it to clean it yourself. I had the same problem with disc read errors on my ps2 and I just got it repaired last week. Was free to repair and all I had to pay was shipping to Sony. Took exactly one week for the entire process. Its really simple and worth it in my opinion for them to do it.

1-800-345-SONY (7669) Monday - Saturday 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM PST and Sunday 7:00 - AM 6:30 PM PST

Wow... there they go again... modding their game systems for entertainment since their systems don't provide it via regular usage. Should have gotten a GameCube! =P

I do have a gamecube so bug off. It probably gets more use than my PS2 actually. But anyways, a flip top is similar to modding but requires a boot disc to play imports and backups. I'm planning on picking up an xbox shortly and modding that for XBMP. Already got a 200GB seagate for it.
