How to run programs off USB drive?

I would like to run some apps while I'm on the computer at work, but without having to install them on that machine - just run them from the USB drive. I have a OCZ Rally 2 4Gig USB drive. If anyone knows where I can find instructions on how to do this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Depends on the App you want to run, some you can just copy the files over to the usb, some however will be impossible.

depends on which apps. thats the whole reason SanDisk invented U3. some apps run just from the folder. these include Opera for example. you can find versions of many apps that don't need to be installed. most of these are opensource like OpenOffice or FF.

Thanks for replies everyone, but I found what I needed with PortableApps. I installed this program last night on my USB drive and then downloaded all the applications I needed from their site. It's not the perfect solution, but it gives me what I need for the time being.
