how to run MS-DOS on winxp home?

I want to install this program. THe website say it is compatible with WinXP. However, when I try to install it, Windows give me a message that says "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Micrsoft Windows application. Chose "Close" to
terminate the application." I click Ignore but it just exit the
message. I have WinXP Home Edition SP1. How can I run this program? thx for the help

I've seen this before. I copied autoexec.nt off the CD and it was fine.

Assuming your cd drive is D: put in the XP cd and type

expand D:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt

KB324767

edited for confusing my back whack with my front whack. LOL
