How to run efficient combined B and G wireless network

I have a Linksys WRT54GS and corresponding Linksys PCI cards with SpeedBooster. I'd like to be able to connect my Tivo to my network, but it seems like the only Linksys USB adapters Tivo accepts are all B, but I don't want to run in Mixed Mode with my Speedbooster router.

So how does this idea sound? Have a different G wireless router running in mixed mode for the Tivo to connect to as B and then bridge it with my main network?

I just hear that running SpeedBooster routers in mixed mode causes periodic drops in transfer speed to search for B devices or something. I guess that could be a second question. Which is the greater of two evils?
