How to run a full scandisk from DOS

bunker

Lifer
I have an old laptop that I can't install any OS on because I get disk errors when trying to install. I've fdisked and formatted the drive, but still get errors when trying to install an OS.

How can I run a full scan disk (where it checks the physical drive) from a DOS prompt? I can get almost any version of it as I have all os'es up to win2k.

Yes create a recovery boot disk from win95 or 98 (in Add/Remove Software). You may have to copy scandisk.* to floppy from the c:\windows\command\ directory. full scan is scandisk /all /surface
.bh.
