If that's really the worst she said, this is pretty stupid.

Maybe, but the bigger point is err on the side of caution and keep your trap shut. Why would you actually name the company in your posts? Dumbass.

This whole thing is fucking stupid. A sarcastic remark on Twitter creates all of this drama? Yikes. Some people need to get a life.

Did Cisco still give her the job?

If someone is going to brag about how much money they will make at a job they hate, then they don't deserve it.

I made $6 an hour doing manual labor at a landscaper when I was 15, and laughed at my friends who made minumum wage working at mcdonalds. I did a fine job and hated every minute of it. It was July and I had 60lbs of round up on my back spraying the gardens at the shop.

I imagine 80% of the population is doing a job they don't like.

It's cool how things like Twitter and FB status messages evolved over time with the web. These things are all derived from the IM away message of the 90s. My generation has grown up on this stuff and it's now something of an integral part of most people's life. Not mine personally, I like to maintain a modicum of privacy and don't feel the need to share every asinine thought/feeling that comes to me.

From what I gather, Cisco never actually rescinded her job offer. She simply decided not to take it up, which her "sarcastic" comment seemed to show she was leaning towards doing from the beginning. She's still innocently stupid in making such statements for the public to view. Tim of Cisco employee is a jackass for shining the spotlight on an innocuous statement. Plenty of people take jobs, especially in such a troubling economic period where jobs are hard to find period, that they might not exactly like the most but they still put in an honest effort to do the best they can.

No, and she probably couldn't write those programs on the spot.

I meant that if someone is going to talk about their paycheck as "fatty", then the company is probably paying too much for a worthless D-bag that doesn't deserve it.

exactly. I honestly missed the part where she said she'd hate the work. I thought they unhired her because of the fatty comment. I thought it was well deserved.

WTF does calling your paycheck fatty have to do with deserving your check or being a D-bag?

I don't think they ever unhired her. It sounds like

Tim Levad

saw a twitter she meant to be private(fail) and called her out on it, and some hacks who wanted to write a generic article about the ills of social networking and professionalism ran with it. The only facts I saw in the various articles are that she tweeted, he tweeted back and articles were written. The rest is just the standard be careful what you write online malarkey.

It sounds like she decided to walk away from a position she was already conflicted about taking when it blew up online and the internet detectives got after her.

There will always be stupid people. Technology just makes it easier for them to broadcast their stupidity.

i do have a little sympathy for her, sarcasm meter doesn't work well with tweeter. And tweeter is stupid, it's texting to public...

I have no sympathy for her stupidity. She will learn to not be so open with what she says in a public arena.

Also, where is the "fattie" I was hoping to see pics of fatties!!!

She said "fatty paycheck". fat is in good paying. This is the stupidest internet sensation ever. IT IS STUPID!

I know, but I was hoping for a fattie chick to gaze upon and whack off to later

I don't get it. There were 3 posts total. And all she said was that she has to decide if she will take a good paying job that has a horrible commute. What is so bad here?

No.

"Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work."

She currently has a good paying job. Cisco offered her a job for unknown $, an assumably longer commute, and she apparently would hate the job.

She publically told Cisco to go pound sand, basically.

No, she said - I just got offered a job that pays a lot better, but the commute sucks and I don't think I will enjoy the work.

I don't see how that in anyway is an insult to cisco.

Would you say that to the hiring manager's face? No. Should you post that in a public forum? No. Is it stupid that people are obsessing over this situation? Yes.
