How to route email outside my W2K Server/Excahnge 2000 box??

I have setup a W2K Domain. The domain name is identical to that of a domain name I've just registered online. I am also trying to setup my own Exchange mail server and web server. The machine is behind a Linksys router/firewall. Should I put the server in the DMZ?? I can send mail to other members of the domain within my private network, but how do I setup Exchange properly so I can receive and send mail outside of my network??

I am just trying to learn Exchange at the moment, no experience with it at all. What's all the choice with POP3, SMTP, HTTP? Are those email protocols or services? Which should I use?

The domain name is not up and running yet, as its still in the registration process. Please help if you can, thx.

Do not put your exchange server in the DMZ.

SMTP: 25
POP3: 110

If you choose to use the web interface... configure IIS and map that port accordingly.
