How to route cable signal over internet?

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone knew of a way to route cable TV signal over the internet (i.e. broadcasting the signal from your home) to a remote location where I can then translate the signal back to a cable signal and watch it on a TV at the remote location.

Basically, I am going to be spending a summer abroad and want to still be able to watch my favorite TV programs. However, I was hoping to watch it as though it were on an actual TV as opposed to a computer screen.

However, that product only allows for watching on a computer and no way to translate the signal back to cable signal. Does anyone know of a device or a setup or a combination that would enable me to do so?

If you can get the video to the computer just hook the computer up to the TV via Composite, S-Video, Component, or whatever depending on the TV.

Thanks, thats a thought but is there some sort of device that I can use so that I don't have to use my computer and leave it running. In other words, is there a device that will allow me to function as though I was sitting right at the TV? Also, the IPTV software listed above is windows based. Does anyone know of a Linux based system since I already have a Linux system running 24/7 and it would be best not to have another computer running if I do not have to.

Check out Orb (www.orb.com). You'll need a video capture/input on your PC for the transmit, but I use it a lot, and it works well.

If you're not up to feeding video through your PC, I've also had good luck with Sony's "Location Free" box. It'll send to Laptops or PSPs, or (probably, I haven't looked) Playstation3. TigerDirect has (had) version 2 refurbs for ~US$90.00, version 3 (also does HD input via component) is / was ~US$200.00.

The Location Free box give you two inputs, each independently remote-controllable from the viewing device (I have one video input for my security cameras, one for DirecTV satellite)
