How To Retrieve QuickLaunch Bar?

Hi, my screensaver crashed and i had to restart. I lost my quicklaunch bar on the taskbar after i restarted. Everything under the 'toolbars' menu is greyed out. I can't re-enable the quicklaunch bar as a result. Can someone be able to shed some light on this matter? Thanks.

I would also check to make sure that the folder is still in C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer (it should be, but... ), and if it is check to see if there are any shortcuts in the folder. If its not there you can fool with the task bar all you want to no avail.

If you have TweakUI, you can check the "IE4 Enabled" box to restore your toolbar functions. Get TweakUI here:
TweakUI 1.33 (latest).

Here's the Microsoft page that details what the deal is. Doesn't matter that some other program caused this in your case...this should restore it:

Getting toolbars back howto

Note, if you see that "IE4 Enabled" is already checked, uncheck it, hit apply, then recheck it and hit apply.

You can add any "quicklaunch" bar you want.

my system at home I make a c:\taskbars directory, for all the "quicklaunch" bars I want. I then copy shortcuts to all the applications I want into that directory.

To create a "quicklaunch" bar, right-click on your taskbar go to toolbars -> new toolbar and choose the location of your directory with all the shortcuts.

then right click on the new bar, and select view -> small to get the small icons, and unclick "show text". now you have a toolbar that looks exactly like quicklaunch.

What I do with this, is drag it (you have to be over a windows desktop for this for some reason) over to the left-hand side. Now I have a toolbar on both the side of the screen (small one) and my big taskbar on the bottom. I auto-hide and always-on-top the one on the side. Quick access to any of my common apps!

hope it helps,

-Phil

Ok, i've downloaded tweakUI. However i do not see the option 'ie4 enabled' under any of the tabs. I am running win98 SE.

Yes, the quick launch folder is still under C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer with all the shortcuts inside.
