How to retrieve BSOD screens? Or retrieving crash messages-

Not looking for a solution to this new lockup I'm having, but I get the BSOD message and it only stays on the screen for a second or two then reboots, problem is, I can't write it down and its doing it to randomly to try and write it all down.

I have googled my a** off with no luck.

Is there anyway to be able to retrieve this BSOD crash screen? Or does XP SP1 store these crash logs somewhere, or the error messages within those screens?

I would really appreciate it, I have totaly run out of ideas on this.
Would try to take a digital shot of it but its to random.

Thank you group.

Right click My Computer...
Go to Properties, Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery click Settings, under System Failure uncheck Automatically Restart...
Now log wise, Control Panel, Classic View...
Go to Administrative Tasks, Event Viewer...
It might make it there, depending on when you get the BSOD...

EXCELLENT!

I see the errors in the logs, they match the crashes times and dates.
The only errors down the list are exactly the times of the crashes.

There are three of these per crash:
ERROR: TrueVector Servie - Event 5007

These crashes happen ONLY when launching a 3d program or game and it does it everytime.
Every driver is up to date and it doesn't matter the title, after launching 10 seconds into the game theres a "clunk sound (the sound it makes when you manualy fire up the machine)", it freezes then a few seconds later it reboots.

Of all the crashes (10-15) I've only seen the BSOD twice.

Thank you! Any suggestions?

Read my .sig.
Run MPSReports and send me the resulting machinename.cab file.
Send me the memory dump(s) found in c:\windows\minidump, zipped or rar'd.

I'll do my best. 🙂

Since you keep getting so many of those crashes, why don't you try uninstalling Zonealarm that you have installed. It sounds like it's either corrupted or just causing problems like i've seen many times.

Good luck!
