As i see it, when i hit Hibernate, stuff from the RAM is written to the hard disk, and the PC shuts off. Now when i power it on again, it takes that data and puts it in the RAM, deletes it from the disk and continues where you left off, right?

Now lets say there's a power cut(happens a lot here, and my UPS has gone for repair) the PC shuts down. Is there a way that when i power on my PC again, it resumes by using restoration data from the hibernation process it had saved earlier? Is there a way to make my PC keep that data even after it has finished resuming and use it the next time i boot my PC. Of course it should give me an option whether to use that data or boot from the scratch.

Sorry for the weird question.

Although it's a bit of a weird question, it's nothing to apologize for.:) In any case I'm not aware of anything quite like what you're proposing, I'm afraid.:(

no, that's not possible, as it would cause filesystem corruption.

What you can do, is enable hybrid sleep, which saves a hibernation file when the computer goes to sleep. That way, if it loses power when sleeping, it will resume from the hibernation file.

Just so you are aware... S4 power state(aka hibernation) the PC technically is OFF.

Im curious , if all u do is turn ur pc 'off' which I assume you mean S5 power state(completely off, cept 5vsb of course), why are you asking about sleep states? Im confused...lol

I know that, dude.

Dunno the technical details, but by turn off i mean completely turned off. I'm not asking about sleep states.. all i was asking was that whether a hypothetical idea that came in my mind could be possible.. People told it wasn't.. so EOD.. I don't understand what you're confused about..
