Question How to restore mail file to new install of Thunderbird

I updated my mobo/CPU, and fresh installed W10. I've previously run Thunderbird, and I saved my entire mail file prior to the changeover using the 'ImportExportTools NG' addon, which I have previously used to do the very same thing... but now I'm not able to figure out how to restore the saved mail file back into the fresh copy of Thunderbird.

It seemed very simple the last time I did it, but I know Thunderbird has changed significantly since then...

If you still have access to the old install, such as a past backup, I find the easiest way is to just copy the whole profile over. Been a while since I had to do it but I think you still want to create a new profile because it generates a unique ID, but then just copy all the files from the old profile into the new folder.

In Windows it will be in application data somewhere in your user folder, I forget the path off hand. In Linux it should be in the .thunderbird folder in your home folder (hidden file)
