How to restore folder restriction? Help!

I was trying to put a restriction to a folder in Windows XP Pro. However, i messed it up by removing all the groups and now none of the accounts even admin can access this folder. Is there any way i can restore the restriction back to default??? help!!

You'll have to have an Administrator "Take Ownership" of the folder.
To do this, use the "Advanced" button of the "Security" properties of the Sharing/Security settings.

After you've got Ownership, you can click the "Inherit from parent the permission entries....." to get back what were probably the original Security settings for the folder.

As an Administrator....
Right Click on the Folder, Go to Properties, Go to the Security Tab, Click on Advanced, Go to the Owner Tab
Under change owner to, click on your name, or the Administrators group, click ok or apply

Damn you beat me, but my instructions are more complete! 😛, but nice suggestion for restoring previous settings, never had to do that one.

OMG u guys rock!!!! I've been tryin to hack my own freakin folder for the past 2 hrs and only came up w/ windows 2000 console thing.. you guys saved my life!!! works perfectly now! never gonna try something on important data nemore =(

remember that windows is going to apply the "no" type permissions last. So if your user has "full control" but his group has "no access" then you won't have access (iirc, been a while since I secured permissions on a windows fileserver)
