So i have been ebaying for a couple years (little things here and there) and finally i have a person who is unhappy with a purchase. They bought a dvd from me (paying a total amount of $6.50 including s+h) and they say it is scratched and figure print all over itand that it couldn't play. The problem is when it left me it worked fine I actually watched it the day before i shipped it out. So should i just suck it up and refund her the money and chalk it up as a loss or should i just say all sales final? Also if i do refund her the money should i have her ship it back or just tell her to keep it (if it is in such bad condition is it worth getting shipped back).

Did your description of the item say it was perfect? It is a *used* DVD after all. Not sure how bad the scratches really are but if the movie works and plays without any problems, then she should just refer to the description. If you said "like new", then you might have a problem. It all depends.

Sad to say, but you are probably being scammed.

i've sold several games on ebay and i always give a detailed description. you can't just say used.

i've never had a problem.

Refund the price of the DVD and keep the shipping
Tell them to keep the dvd and ask if they can leave a positive feedback for your solution.

In cases like that, I tell them to ship it back and I will give them a full refund, less shipping and handling.

the problem with that is they paid $3.00 for the dvd and $3.50 for s+h. If i keep the original shipping and make them pay to ship it back then they practically have lost everything they paid and ended up with nothing. Maybe this is just my morals speaking.

plus is it worth just giving them the 6 bucks and making sure they leave positive feedback instead of negative.

Exactly my point. Why would you have any moral obligation if you KNEW that teh disc was in good condition when you sent it?

It's up to you but I'd tell them that it worked fine for me and they should try it in another player because you know it works and it could be their faulty equipment. If they still say it doesn't work, I'd tell them to ship it back and when it gets here, I'll refund their money once I verify that they sent back the same item I sent them.

If your reputation means anything to you the answer is obvious and simple, suck it up and refund the total amount. let the buyer keep the DVD WITH the understanding that if they leave feedback of any kind that it be only positive.

i agree with Kelemvor in that tell them to try it in a different player and that you KNOW it works because you tried it.

if it doesn't work out, then just suck it up and politely ask them to leave a positive comment and don't fret too much over it. i mean it's only $6.5.

yeah I agreed with everyone. my time and sanity is worth more than 6 bucks so i said i'll refund teh whole thing. she can keep the disc as long as we leave positive feedback for each other.

Yeah, you're gonna be out $6.XX, but I'm willing to bet that the buyer copied it & burned their own DVD, now wants their money back.
Sort of like what a lot of traders do buying, burning, & selling, except it's e-Bay, they want their money back!

And this is why I always put exactly how I tested my items and that they worked just fine for me and that "All sales are final"

Some DVD players handle scratched discs better than others. My Samsung DVD player has a hell of a time with scratched discs, but my PS2 handles them fine.
