How to reset your Admin password without CD's

I have an iMAC and can't put my hands on the install CD's to reset the ADMIN password so we can do updates and downloads. So odd, the password worked one minute and didn't the next. The hint is not working either. Is their a way to reset the password without the CD's?
 
I vouch for this person. I work with them and couldn't answer their question. I ask that they post here.
