The wife got gas last week and immediately after she left the station the emissions light came on. Apparantly the attendant didn't tighten the gas cap all the way. The manual says it'll turn off in about 3 days, but it's been nearly a week and the light hasn't gone off yet. Is there a certain number of on-off cycles before it goes off? Is there a way to turn it off manually?

You could try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a half hour or so. That will clear ECU codes on a lot of vehicles.

Edit: Yeah, you may lose radio presets and such - forgot to mention that.

Yeah, that's one option, but then if you have presets and such on the radio those will be reset.

From a search on google: I wouldn't unplug the battery. Look in the manual for the ecu fuse up under the hood. That way you don't have to mess with the radio code, auto window, and the a/c on/off with defrost feature.

check your manual. In most honda, you press and holdthe reset button on near your speedometer, then turn your key to position two or on, but dont start the car. Try it out.

Find someone with a scanner and erase the code. Autozone will do it for free.

That's how you reset the maintenance required light on my Honda. Emissions is a different light. I'll try it though.

Alright I'll try that.

Buy a scanner. I have one. Comes in handy. Spend the extra $$ and make sure it can check emmissions readiness monitor states
