How to research Case Law?

I've got a moot-court assignemnt for my capping class (IT). I've already found the relevant laws, and read a lot of online articles about the topic, but what I was hoping someone could tell me is where do you find documented case law?

All the articles I find say "Smith was convicted for doing X" when what I really want is a "Alfred P. Smith was convicted on January 31st 2002 for violating Title 9 Section 5 Subsection A clauses i, ii, iii, and iv in WhateverCourt"

I'm sure this is somehting a first year pre-law student can do, I'm just not sure where to look.

I would take the path of least resistance:

Go to the nearest university with a law school.
Walk into the law library.
Ask the librarian for assistance.
