there's water dmg a foot in every direction of that corner.
if i cut out 2ft in every direction, how easy is it to put in new drywall?

or is there a Better way to repair it?

edit:
cant do primer and paint over the wetspot. drywall is all wrinkled :(

Good quality Oil Primer (Zinser)....NOTE:vent well when applying

And paint right over it

Your other choice is to replace drywall....

Fix the roof first!

Time to experience the joys of mudding and taping. Nothing to it.

^^^ Yep

Remember, mix WELL before applying and BE PATIENT.

THIN coat is better than thick coat. Apply few thin coats and then primer> paint.

Also, the best way to smooth out mud is to us a slightly moist sponge (vs sanding etc)

BTW I can't see any damage in that pic

Interesting - I haven't seen anybody perform this moist sponge trick. Every time I've seen people repair drywall they just get out the sander.

Try it ;)

Also I would use one of those "screen" sanders LONG before I would do a regulars sand paper.

Sponge works best though. Just be easy with it.

+1 on the sponge and thin coats. The guy that just did my kitchen did 4 separate muddings. Don't know about the final sanding but he just used his putty knife to scrape over the joints on the 1st 3....no sanding at all.
