how to replace the CPU in a mx1210

You know I did reply to this, but I guess it never showed.

You can go to Dell's website to find the take-apart guides for quite a few of their machines, I think the 1210 would be on there. By perusing that, you will be able to see if the processor is socketed or soldered. Also, you have to take into account the cost of the processor and whether the upgrade is worth the cost.

And I really hate to be a grammar nazi, but you mean possible. Plausible means truthful or believable, possible means able to be done.

I don't think that particular switch is possible- the T7100 is Santa Rosa, and I doubt any of the T2xxx laptops shipped with a Santa Rosa capable motherboard. Although, Santa Rosa chips may be compatible with older motherboards... I would look into that before attempting this switch.

945 series boards are not compatible with the Santa Rosa specific chips (800MHz FSB). The 667MHz FSB Core 2 Duos are compatible with the 945 series chipset, but as for seeing a vast performance difference at the cost of a couple hundred for the processor and the loss of a warranty, it is a questionable upgrade. You could probably use the T7200 (667MHz FSB)

Quite possibly. Check out either the Dell Community Forum or NotebookReview.com's forums to find out if anyone else has successfully performed the upgrade.
