How to repartition hard drive on a laptop when installing Windows?

Hey guys,

I have a buddies laptop that I am trying to fix. So far, from what it looks like, it seems the hard drive is messed up. It's a 120 gig hard drive partitioned into 3. I'd like to repartition it so it's just back to the 120 gig.

I am installing Windows Vista Home, is there any way to repartition the drive?

Just Dban Boot and nuke it. Dban will remove all the partitions.

Don't know what Dban is lol. Anyways, I figured it out, just went to delete partitions and made a new partition...

As you found, there's a version of Disk Management early in the Win7 install. You can also use the command-line "DiskPart" tool by entering the "Repair Windows" section of the Win7 Install DVD :

DiskPart can access some protected partitions that that graphical Disk Manager might not be able to touch.
