Assuming I do this from dos, how can it be done?

And, if I repair an existing setup, will it mess up some of my settings (replace the registry or crap like that?)

Thanks...

Just put your CD back in the drive and boot. You will be prompted to repair your current installation.

Will it mess up some of my settings?

The reason I'm contemplating this is because I can't use some of the system tools like disk cleanup and was thinking it's maybe because something got screwed up along the way....

Does this replace system files such as the regedit or crap like that?

I mean I don't want to reinstall and have half of it not work...

Thanks :) (obviously has never done this)

from recollection it won't mess up hardware settings etc, but some of your preferences may get lost - i.e. I think it resets all the install defaults.
