As the title says, please help me. The 4 clips attached looks like plastic and I don't want to break it. This would void the warranty. Is there an easier way to remove it?
Thanks.
Removing it will void your warranty. Some ppl use a Pozi screw driver with a case screw on the end as it has a little concave dish on the end of the screw and is ideal for pushing the screw on the CPU's out. You need quite a bit of force, but swift pressure does the trick. I used this method on a P3 500 and it worked fine.
I'm just trying to find the instructions I got when I got a VGS08 cooler from OverClockers UK I'll type it out if I find it. Meanwhile, check the site out or even OverClockers USA
I have decided not to do it since I don't plan to overclock anymore. The 800 will do just fine for my friend. I don't want him to bug me every time he overclocks successfully.
It's very easy to do. I've done a few myself. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it 🙂 If you ever change your mind here the link I used how to remove the H/S off a my P3. You can Download a small movie that shows you how to remove the H/S from start to finish. Its pretty cool. You can easly be put back together also.
It helped me taking off the H/S AND back on. I use too have a P3-450 O/C to 600 with a Aritic Cooler. I upgraded to a 550E Slot-1 so I took the Aritic cooler back off the P3- 450 and reinstalled the stock H/S back on the P3-450 and put in into another computer for the wife. Both run like champs! Watch the movie then IF you ever decided to remove the H/S just pause it as you watch the small movie and follow along by removing the H/S-Fan. I wish more people would make movies for stuff like this. It makes it much easier for dummies like me 😀
