My homepage keeps getting reset to searchv.com and I dont know how. I've tried to get rid of it first by reseting the address of my homepage, then deleted all cookies and internet temp files, tried going to control panel->remove programs but it wasnt listed, searched for all files on my computer with the name "search" or "searchv" in it and deleted them. Finally tried adaware program to remove this thing. Still no luck. Does anyone know how to get rid of this thing

I had to run a program called Hijackthis and check off not only winshow but another program called msupdate as windows kept reloading winshow at every startup. You may also want to run spyware blaster, adaware and spybot (I run all three and they are all free). All programs detected winshow and deleted the registry entries and winshow but only with Hijackthis was I able to disable MSupdate.

Good Luck.

thx guys for the help. theAnimals link ended up doing the job. If anybody else has this problem you have go into regedit find and reset the "search bar", "search address", and "startpage" values to "whateversite" then search ur computer for the "sys.reg" file and delete it then restart your computer and check if it works. That worked for me. If it doesnt you will have to do some additional steps found in theAnimals link
