My cousin somehow got his browser hijacked. Everytime he checks his email or goes to a website, it redirects him to searchit-now.com which is some bs site that sell's viagra and crap. I tried everything on removing this thing and I can't figure it out. I also checked newgroups, antivirus sites, google, and came up with nothing. Any ideas on how to kill this blasted thing?

excellent! That worked great, but now he's getting page cannot be displayed when he tries to access secure web sites. (hotmail, etc. etc.) He is using win98 with ie6 on roadrunner.

Here's what I tried so far with no avail.

1) deleted all cookies and temp files
2) reset all ie settings
3) checked his cipher setting, was 128 bit
4) checked the advanced setting and made sure those we're checked right
5) reset all his security settings
6) probably more which I can't even remember now.

Try a repair of IE.. Start.... Settings... Control panel... Add remove programs... Find internet explorer click once on it then the add remove tab.. Three options come up one is to repair it...

Also Spybot search and destroy has a pretty good anti hijacker and is pretty good at removing them.

Since when has Internet Explorer been listed on add/remove programs? :)

Oddly, it is listed in the Windows Components list. But it seems to only remove the desktop and start menu icons for it, naturally. :)
